Ahh, the notorious caro white… Ever since I was little I had always noticed the stigma associated with this cosmetic product. it is one of the very few products out there that could raise brows when people find out you’ve been using it.
But quite frankly, doesn’t this product deserves all the negative association it has come to accumulate over the years as it is responsible for ruining the skin of countless people?
What if I told you that this product is almost entirely innocent and the culprit for the damages made is the users themselves.
Out of curiosity three months ago I decided to get myself a small bottle to try it out, to be honest I was scared AF at the thought of using such product that has managed to bag itself such negative reviews over the years, I have personally seen it ruin the skin of countless people. I had even seen my secondary school English teacher (male) practically turn his skin and turning it into something else just before I had graduated.
When I went to the local cosmetic store to get a bottle, I was totally shy of even telling the sales person that I wanted a bottle of the cream, somehow the awkwardness I felt was so much like asking for a pack of condom in a crowded room.
Anyway, from my discovery here is what you need to know about the caro white bleaching cream and how not to ruin your skin by using it.
About the caro white cream/lotion and hydroquinon
The most noticeable ingredient in this product is hydroquinon, which is a very potent lightening agent. However, over the years the adverse effect of hydroquinon on the body has been widespread.
The major reason why the caro white cream is potentially damaging is because it contains this ingredient, however, just 2% which is the maximum amount allowed to be used in any cosmetic product.
Hydroquinon was initially to be used on prescription as a more potent way to fight hyper pigmentation. So in essence, any product containing hydroquinon should be treated in the same way as a prescribed medication. The reason most people abuse this product and as result ruin their skin is that they either ignore this fact or are oblivious to it.
How to use
There are few tips and tricks on how to use caro white without causing damage and one of them is mixing the cream with other products to dilute the overall concentration of the cream. Not everyone can handle 2% hydroquinon contents, and being dark skin the risk of skin damages like hyper-pigmentation is doubled.
I would advice you adulterate the product with vitamin E serum or oil as this will not only protect your skin but also help reverse damages done.
Adding glycerin to the mix will also help in giving you that youthful glow.
You should know that the lighter you are, the more susceptible you will be to sun burn or damage. For this reason, you should avoid spending more than 30 minutes under the sun a day without sunscreen. Even with sunscreen, you should still limit sun exposure.
Although one of the most effective ways to improve your skin tone is through exfoliating, you may want to take a different approach to this if you have overly sensitive skin. It is advisable that before exfoliating you discontinue use for at least two days prior, as this cream may tend to make your skin sensitive.
If hydroquinon should be treated the same way as a prescribed medication, you should not be using this cream for an extended period of time, never go more than three months back to back with this product. Discontinue and maintain your result with an all natural lightening cream, you can also try maintaining on glutathione supplements, you should aim for 500 mg a day.
After this if you still want to go back to using the product, give yourself at least a two month break before going back.
I have also noticed that a lot of people think that they can possibly lighten up their skin permanently, but there is no such thing as permanent skin lightening, no matter what product or means you use. If you are prone to having a certain level of melanin in your body, your body will eventually go back to that level over time, especially when it is healthy.
The only solution then is to constantly maintain your desired shade by taking the necessary steps needed, I would advise that if you want to look natural and avoid possible damage or complications even after lightening your skin is to never go more than three shades above your natural skin tone.
However, in the long run nothing beats accepting diversity by accepting your God given shade.
